After making her senior debut for Celtic FC Women last season, Olivia McStay has joined Hamilton Accies on loan for the duration of the 23/24 campaign.
The second cousin of Paul McStay
Olivia made her debut for the Ghirls against her loan side after coming on in place of Kelly Clark in the 80th minute. A massive moment for the second cousin of Paul McStay and one that she can look to build on should she impress out on loan.
Hamilton Accies suffered relegation from the top flight of Scottish women’s football last season after only managing 14 points across the course of the season. They will now play in the SWPL2 alongside teams like Ayr United and Kilmarnock and will no doubt hope to win the league come the end of the campaign.
Let’s hope that Olivia can play a big part in their push for promotion. They have certainly strengthened in the off-season, having made eight summer signings thus far.
Included in those eight signings is Erin Halliday, who is a goalkeeper for us and a Scotland Youth international. She has joined the club on loan until the end of the season alongside Olivia.
Hamilton kick off their season on Sunday, 11 August against Livingston at New Douglas Park. Hopefully some of our Ghirls will feature on the opening day of the SWPL2 season!
And of course, Celtic kick off their campaign at Paradise against Dundee United on Saturday, August 10. Tickets are now available for that fixture and can be purchased here. Tickets are priced at £10 for adults and £1 for under-16s.
Good luck to Olivia and and Erin for the upcoming season!
