Celtic close to announcing signings of two Internationalist goalkeepers

Celtic are set to complete the signing of Denmark No.1 Kasper Schmeichel and Finnish goalkeeper Viljami Sinisalo. The 37-year-old and 22-year-old are set to be announced as the new first team goalkeeping options under Brendan Rodgers.

Sinisalo arrives on a five year deal from English Premier League side Aston Villa with a view to becoming the Celtic No.1 in the future, taking the gloves from Schmeichel who is signing a year deal with an option to extend.

According to Football Scotland, an announcement is imminent with the Finnish Internationalist set to sign for £1m. Meanwhile, the former Leicester City skipper will join as a free agent having left Anderlecht at the end of last season.

Schmeichel will undergo the medical in Italy before flying to the USA to join up with his Celtic teammates ahead of their pre-season games against DC United, Manchester City and Chelsea in the States.

According to Danish football journalist Farzam Abolhosseini, the player will complete his medical tomorrow before meeting up with his new teammates on Thursday.
