A few Celtic supporters have taken umbrage with Reo Hatate

A few Celtic supporters on social media have taken umbrage with Reo Hatate’s comments about wanting to play at a higher level at some point in his career.

Fair enough if it’s got you all hot and bothered, but you’ve got to applaud his honesty and admire his ambition.

What puzzles me is that some supporters have been commenting on Reo’s talent or bizarrely his lack of talent, and seem to think we wouldn’t miss his presence if he left tomorrow.

Rude awakening

They’d be in for a rude awakening if they reckon we wouldn’t miss Reo’s ability if he were indeed to leave.

It was obvious to me and to many other supporters during his absence last season that we were much less productive without the guile and craft of the Japanese international.

When Reo made his much anticipated return from injury we looked a much more composed and balanced side and he was one of the main reasons why we were successful in winning the double.

Reo is vital to the way Celtic play

Reo fully complements our midfield with his flair and skill, and alongside Callum McGregor and Matt O’Riley he forms a vital part of our side. He is a part of the team that is vital to the way we play.

Those who think we wouldn’t miss Reo are badly mistaken.

What do you think?

  1. Reo isnt and didnt grow up a Celtic fan.. He is a professional and hails from Japan… Why wouldnt he want to test himself at the highest level possible? And unfortunately Scottish Football is nowhere near that level. Reo is a great player so I think these critics are just speaking out of disappointment more than anything else.
