Scott McKenna – definitely, maybe or thanks but no thanks

Scott McKenna yes or no? I’m open to the possibility. Here’s why…

Brendan Rodgers tried to sign McKenna previously

Scott McKenna has just been freed by Nottingham Forest meaning it won’t be long until he’s linked with the big two in Scotland, especially Celtic.

The former Aberdeen man is a player that Brendan admired during his first spell with the club, so much so that he made a bid for the Scotland international. The price though was seen as too ‘steep’ in the end and he would eventually join Nottingham Forest in a multi million pound deal.

Will Brendan rekindle his interest now that the big defender is now a free agent? We are in the market for a centre back and Scott has the ability and the experience to play for the club, that’s not in doubt.

A big strong experienced left-sided centre back on a free

It wouldn’t please some supporters as he’s seen as a bit of a ‘liability’ in the eyes of some. Yes he looked a bit raw in his Aberdeen days, but he also showed great potential.

The experience he’s picked up in the last few years with Nottingham Forest in both the championship and the Premier League will have made him a better all round player.

Not to mention his international experience with Scotland as well as a recent loan spell with FC Copenhagen in which he sampled Champions League knock-out rounds football.

He’s worth a shout in my opinion, a big strong experienced left-sided centre back on a free. It could prove a wise decision to snap up the Scotland defender especially before Euro 2024 gets underway.
