New keeper search must be top priority for Brendan Rodgers…
The search is currently on going for a replacement for Joe Hart and there hasn’t been a shortage of names touted as a possible successor.
Anthony Joseph at Sky Sports reckons that there’s a shortlist and that the top two names in it are currently Newcastle United’s Martin Dubravka and Sparta Prague’s Peter Vindahl Jensen, who is the younger of the two and will cost Celtic around £4m.
Celtic are interested in Newcastle’s Martin Dubravka and Sparta Prague’s Peter Vindahl Jensen as they look for a new No1 goalkeeper.
Both keepers understood to be on the shortlist of targets to replace Joe Hart, who has retired.

No time to waste
However at this stage it remains little more than mere speculation. The club will have their targets in mind, well I hope they do as it’s a position that is in need of rectifying urgently.
Pre-season will soon be upon us and it’s vital that we have a new man between the sticks as we prepare for yet another gruelling season domestically and in Europe.
The new man needs time to bed in and be prepared for the new campaign so the sooner he’s in place the better. The keeper position is a vital one, and it can impact how the side, especially the defence perform.
Celtic’s Greek Tragedy
Remember Vasilis Barkas? The Greek keeper who we signed for a considerable amount of money (£5m) and was well, to put it politely, absolutely rank rotten. He didn’t look comfortable from the moment he arrived at Celtic, and his nervy attitude affected the men in front of him and we went on to have one of the worst campaigns in living memory.
Joe Hart, a hard act to follow
Then Ange Postecoglou brought in Joe Hart. A man who was experienced, a leader, and most importantly he was talented. We need a man of a similar ilk as his replacement. Experience points to Martin Dubravka but the best option for the longer term is clearly Peter Vindahl Jensen.
Yet Celtic may well end up frustrated in their pursuit of both and a third or fourth choice candidate from the short-list may end up in goals for Celtic next season.
It will be a hard task trying to replace fans favourite Joe Hart, but one that we can achieve if we search hard enough. It’s also got to be sorted soon, it’s vital we do just that.
