“We are eager to go out there and put things right,” Chloe Craig

Following that dreadful performance and result at Hampden at the weekend in the Women’s Scottish Cup against theRangers, Chloe Craig insists that Celtic FC Women will bounce back this evening in the vital SWPL1 match against current Champions Glasgow City at the Excelsior Stadium in Airdrie.

And while it would have been brilliant to have won at the weekend to set up a third consecutive Scottish Cup Final (against Hearts), the main objective for Celtic FC Women this season has always been to win the league, for the first time in our club’s history.

Celtic are two points clear

And with just five games to go Celtic are two points ahead of theRangers with City drifting and having only a long shot’s chance of retaining their title.

There’s a full SWPL1 programme this evening. It’s a Women’s Scottish Cup final dress rehearsal as theRangers take on Hearts (who beat them just over a week ago) and Celtic play Glasgow City at Airdrie.

Eager to go out there and put things right

“Nobody wants to lose a game, of course, especially a cup game but like we’ve said, the best part about it is that we’ve got a game within a few days, so we’ll put that to bed and make it right on Wednesday,” Chloe Craig told Celtic TV.

“That’s the good thing about this week. The games come thick and fast so it’s probably the best thing for us, but we’re eager to go out there and put things right.

“The most important part is that we’re together, we stand together and win, lose or draw we’re going to be a team, we’ll go out there on Wednesday to try and get the three points.”

As one herself, Chloe Craig understands what winning the league would mean to every Celtic support and there’s an element of paying the fans back for Saturday’s disappointment at the national stadium. And the Celtic defender knows only too well what the support means to the team and how valuable their support in during matches.

“They’re always our 12th man. Everywhere we go they’re always there, so we hope we can go out there and do it for them as well,” the Celtic stalwart said.

Celtic FC Women v Glasgow City kicks off at 6.10pm at the Excelsior Stadium in Airdrie and tickets are available HERE The game is also live on BBC ALBA with theRangers v Hearts game following our own.
