Jota looks set to leave Saudi Arabia this summer less than a year after his £25m move from Celtic. The Portuguese winger left, just days after Ange Postecoglou left for Spurs, to join Al Ittihad in a lucrative deal.

However, reports from Saudi (via Record Sport) indicate that the 25-year-old will push for a move after a fairly dismal time of it in Jeddah.

Celtic could potentially mount a bid to sign Jota; however, the report says that it will likely be a loan deal to join Steven Gerrard’s Al Ettifaq.

The player is in no-man’s land given the large financial package associated with his signing. He left Celtic for a lucrative proposal but no one will be able or willing to match those wages in Europe. Celtic could be a route back to football but it seems far fetched. Brendan Rodgers has already said that he wants the club to bring in quality and Jota would certainly be in that category.

In 83 appearances for Celtic, Jota has scored 28 goals and assisted 26 times. The Celtic supporters adore the Portuguese star and if there was a chance at a return then we’d happily welcome this.
