Yesterday’s clash with Hearts was a vital one. Not just in terms of the three points, but in sending out a statement of intent that we want to Champions. Brendan Rodgers’ side certainly achieved all that an more yesterday, putting on the style and the only complaint is that we should have scored a few more goals.

We prevailed on the two counts as we recorded a 3-0 victory, but did so in style by playing some superb football while putting in a superb shift.

A thoroughly deserved victory

The players were all on their game and fought for every ball while looking so calm and assured. We were aggressive and clinical and Hearts couldn’t live with us, we thoroughly deserved our victory.

It should be noted that Hearts actually played quite well, indeed their manager Steven Naismith reckoned that they played just as well yesterday as they did on their last trip to Parkhead last December when they won 2-0.

Hearts were actually going for a third consecutive win over Celtic for the first time since 1961 but that was never going to happen with Celtic Park in full flow on and off the park.

Even the pies were excellent

Someone on Facebook this morning noted that even the pies at Celtic Park were excellent yesterday, it was that kind of Perfect Day in Paradise and it’s only the dress rehearsal for the main event this coming Saturday.

We also witnessed something that’s been missing from our game this season, and that was consistency. More than a few times this campaign we’ve failed to perform for the entire 90 plus minutes in a game, but yesterday we managed to do just that.

Paradise was rocking

Paradise was also rocking and that helped the players massively, it was a good day all round. Which is of course good news with the Glasgow Derby game up next in Paradise. Win that and the title is all but ours, indeed if Kilmarnock get anything today at Ibrox then a Celtic win on Saturday wins us the league.

Yesterday was an important hurdle and we successfully jumped it with plenty of room to spare. Everything is clicking into place at the right time.
