Three Games from the Verge of Glory for Elena Sadiku’s Celtic side

It’s never wise to count your chickens in football. However winning the next three games would go a very long way to Elena Sadiku writing her name in Celtic’s history by taking Celtic FC Women on the verge of an historic League and Scottish Cup double.

This Saturday Celtic FC Women head to Hampden Park to take on theRangers Women and it’s fair to say that the winners of that semi-final will be massive favourites to lift the trophy on Sunday 26 May at the National Stadium where the opposition will be either Hearts or Spartans.

A final before the final

And while neither Elena Sadiku or Jo Potter, theRangers manager would admit it, this weekend’s match is going to feel very much like a final before the final.

If Sadiku’s side continues their fine run of form then the cup final can be parked so that attention can turn to the remaining SWPL1 matches. With five still to play Celtic FC Women are currently two points ahead of theRangers, with Glasgow City now trailing and needing favours.

Celtic FC Women has a 100% record

Celtic FC Women has a 100% record in the post split fixtures at the half way stage, winning five from five and defeating every side in the top six. The next two games are against current Champions Glasgow City at the Excelsior Stadium in Airdrie on Wednesday 1st May then away to theRangers at Broadwood in Cumbernauld on Monday 6th May.

Win those two games and our Ghirls will be at least five points clear and looking for two wins from the last three games to secure a first ever title for Celtic Football Club.  Celtic remaining three matches are against Partick Thistle (at Airdrie on Sunday 12 May), Hearts (at Oriam, Edinburgh on Wednesday 15 May) and then at Celtic Park against Hibs on Sunday 19 May.

Hampden this Saturday lunchtime

So strangely enough whether Celtic end the season with a double, a single piece of silverware or heaven forbid, empty handed, could be determined in the first three matches of the run-in, rather than the last three and of course it’s the same for theRangers Women, who already have the Sky Sports (League) Cup in their trophy cabinet.

The more Celtic Supporters who get behind the team the better the chances will be.. Let’s do it folks, starting with Hampden this Saturday lunchtime. Ticket details below…

It is gearing up to be another big week for Celtic FC Women who will take to the Hampden Park stage once more this Saturday, 27 April.

The Ghirls take on Glasgow rivals theRangers in the semi-finals of the Scottish Gas Women’s Scottish Cup (KO: 12:15pm), and tickets for the match are available to buy online.
