Oasis songwriter backs Celtic to win the title after Ibrox display

Oasis songwriter and former lead guitarist Noel Gallagher has backed Celtic to win the Scottish Premiership after the draw to Rangers at Ibrox. The Scottish Champions were ahead twice but Rangers benefited from a dubious penalty, a deflection and an excellent strike to pull them level.

Speaking to TalkSport, Gallagher was asked by Ally McCoist about the game and reckoned initially that you couldn’t call the title race before being reminded that there was one game remaining between the teams.

“Well, yeah. I have got to say the Bhoys will do it, yeah”

“What a game that was. Rangers had equalised and Celtic go up the other end and score – I thought that was it. But now Rangers are in the driving seat because if they win the game in hand they are ahead. But, you can’t call it…”

Brazil then reminded the rocker that the split will bring a final Glasgow Derby to Celtic Park, which could be pivotal.

“Well, you can. 60,000 at Parkhead – you can call it…”

Gallagher, who has a fondness for Celtic, then said that he believes Brendan Rodgers’ side will deliver the title.

“Well, yeah. I have got to say the Bhoys will do it, yeah.”
