“It was a big impact. It was absolutely amazing,” Brendan Rodgers

Yesterday as editor on Celtic Shorts I was over at Lennoxtown for the media conference.  I spoke to  Adam Idah and his Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers ahead of this afternoon’s Scottish Premiership match against St Mirren at Celtic Park. It’s the final fixture before the split and obviously with things so tight at the top of the league, it is a must win for Celtic.

A four point gap

A win today will open a four points lead over theRangers who will have two games in hand, playing at Dingwall tomorrow and Dens Park in midweek, weather permitting.  That game however will be played somewhere else if the rain takes out the sodden surface at Dundee’s ground which formerly was one of the best playing surfaces in Scottish football.

I asked Brendan and Adam Idah about that amazing send-off the Celts were given at Celtic Park last Saturday ahead of the trip to Ibrox. And the manager also gave us a message for the Celtic support for the remaining games of this season.

“They’d miscalculated it, and there were a few more!”

On that amazing send-off from Celtic Park. Brendan said when asked about the impact it had on the players.

“It was a big impact. It was absolutely amazing. They told me here that when we get to the stadium there’ll be a couple hundred supporters there to greet us. Then I got a call as I was coming up towards the stadium saying they’d miscalculated it, and there were a few more!”

Adam Idah talked about the massive impact that the send-off had on every single Celtic player on that team bus.

Every single person on that bus was amazed

“It was amazing. Every single person on that bus was amazed. I had the fright of my life when I was driving in! It’s hard to put into words to be at a football club and to have that support and fanbase where they genuinely love you.

“As players, that makes you want to do so much for the club to win games and win trophies. It’s huge. They’re huge for us, and playing in front of them is amazing, so all the lads love them,” the Irish striker said to Celtic Shorts.

Meanwhile when I asked Brendan Rodgers for a message for the support for the remaining games of the season he gave us this message to pass on:

“Just Keep The Faith and keep giving us that incredible support”

“Just Keep The Faith and keep giving us that incredible support, because it really makes the difference.

“I’m sure there’ll be some edgy moments in the six games and in the cup game, but just keep the faith and keep with the team and give us everything, and we’ll give you everything back on the pitch. ”

Message received loud and clear Brendan. The Celtic support will NOT be found wanting. We never are.
