Glasgow Derby Preview – Suits Celtic that the Rangers are regarded as favourites

The Rangers are overwhelming favourites. Let it stay that way, because it suits us…

Tomorrow’s vital Glasgow Derby clash is almost upon us as the nerves start to jangle, with predictions being made all over the shop from supporters and pundits alike.

These games are never easy to call and I for one am never confident going into them. We of course won the previous two encounters this season, but that counts for nothing.

A lot more uncomfortable

A few weeks ago I’d have been a lot more uncomfortable heading to Ibrox due to our woeful form, but the last few results and performances coupled with the fact that we have important players such as the influential CCV, Reo Hatate and possibly Callum McGregor back available, I’m a little bit more optimistic.

The Rangers supporters are as always much more confident and have no trouble telling the world. With good reason after all as they are the home side and apparently clear favourites with the bookmakers.

They are apparently the side in the ascendancy after all. They do have a game in hand, and a win on Sunday will put them top of the table and clear overwhelming favourites for the title. The pressure is clearly on Celtic to get a result, ie to avoid defeat. Only a win does theRangers though.

Talked up by the media

And theRangers are being talked up by the media and their supporters, it’s nothing but optimism coming from the home ranks.

That’s fine by me, let them be favourites, let them think it’s a sure thing. The pressure may be on us, but all this optimism piles the pressure on the home side. As we’ve seen in the past some sides don’t always handle it too well.

Serial losers

Tomorrow it’s serial losers hosting a club that has dominated the Scottish game for a generation, possibly like no other in the history of the Scottish game. They under-estimate Celtic at their peril.
