Congratulations to ex-Celtic star Jeremie Frimpong on Bundesliga win

Congratulations to former Celtic fullback Jeremie Frimpong, who helped Bayer Leverkusen to a Bundesliga title this afternoon.

Following his arrival from Man City’s U19 in the closing day of the 2019 summer transfer window, Frimpong broke through into the first team under Neil Lennon. The pace, enthusiasm and energy was infectious, helping Celtic to win a Treble in the 2019/20 season.

The following season, which saw empty stadiums due to COVID-19, was poor for the entire team but Frimpong continued to be linked with a number of clubs.

Frimpong left for Leverkusen for around £12m with add-ons. The Dutchman made 51 appearances for Celtic, scoring three times and assisting on eight occasions.

In 38 appearances, Frimpong has scored 12 goals and assisted on 11 occasions for Xabi Alonso’s team. The Germans will be looking to add the Europa League and German Cup in the next few weeks.
