Celtic make £7.5m move for Turkish Internationalist

Celtic have made an approach for Turkish Internationalist Uğurcan Çakir as Brendan Rodgers eyes a replacement for Joe Hart. With the former England Internationalist set to retire at the end of the season, Celtic are on the hunt for a new No.1 and Çakir is the latest name to be mentioned and a report in Turkey has named Celtic Chief Executive Michael Nicholson in engaging in discussions with Trabzonspor.

According to Taka Gazete, Nicholson has emailed the Süper Lig side in the hope of striking a deal to sign the 28-year-old.

Celtic have made an offer of £7.5m and requested that the player’s representatives travel to Glasgow to discuss a move. The report states that this bid is favourable to the Turkish club, who currently sit third in the top division. It is also stated that Rodgers is keen to talk about a move with the player over Zoom as he looks to bring in a new first choice keeper.

Çakir has made 27 appearances for his country and would be an excellent acquisition by the club if they were to succeed in bringing him into the club.
