CCV reckons Celtic’s “in a good place performance-wise” ahead of Ibrox

Cameron Carter-Vickers reckons that Celtic are in a good place ahead of Sunday’s crucial Glasgow Derby at Ibrox as the Hoops look for a third successive victory over theRangers this season.

The red card and the penalty

“I think we’re in a good place,” CCV told Sky Sports. “The last three, four weeks, we’ve been in a good place performance-wise. “There was a disappointing result away at Hearts with the red card and the penalty.

“But other than that, as a whole the last few weeks’ performances have been pretty good. It’s just about maintaining that and taking it into the last few games.”

The American international defender also had warm words for Nicolas Kuhn who picked up another Man of the Match award after finding form in recent weeks.

Nicolas has been really good

“Nicolas has been really good in the last few games,” CCV said. “Even before that we could see in training he had the skills and the pace to affect the game. It’s good for him now.”

MOTM Kuhn was happy with the three goals and three points. “It was a difficult pitch, but we did well. Three goals is good and we’re happy with the three points,” the German winger said.

“We knew it wouldn’t be easy, but we had a couple of chances in the first half and we were happy we could score in the second half. It’s all about the first goal and after that we got more space and we could create more chances.”

Today we were strong

Meanwhile John Kennedy reckons that Celtic were extremely impressive in the middle of the park, despite the recent disruptions and the absence of the Celtic captain Callum McGregor. Kennedy was standing in for Brendan Rodgers on the touchline as the Celtic manager served his one-match ban for calling out John Beaton’s cheating at Tynecastle.

“We’ve had interruptions there, several injuries, had to make changes in games at times which doesn’t help that side of it – but today we were strong.

Matt’s been crucial for us this year

“Matt’s been crucial for us this year, especially when Callum comes out, the dynamic changes slightly. Even Tomoki today, in terms of the physicality he gave us, the number of times he picked up second balls or broke up attacks, he was really good.

“That allowed Matt and Reo to get involved further forward. And Paolo scores a great goal. We’ve got good options in there now so that will be crucial in the run-in.”

  1. Would agree that there is a totally different feel throughout the whole club currently, with the extra confidence and momentum gained?
However, we are still looking at a week of speculation, regarding calmac and weather he will be available for the scum match?
Even if calmac is available, then a massive decision awaits upon how many minutes we could realistically expect to get from him, along with what actual position he may be used in for ourselves?
Even if calmac should be fit enough to start, then that hopefully will give us 9 players who only know too well what is expected and well use to delivering the right results for ourselves against the scum.
The downside is all 9 haven’t been able to deliver this season on a regular basis, due to many reasons, in contributing as hugely as previous season to date imo?
Finally signs are starting to show a big turnaround to our approach for to long this season, with nearly enough in reserve to have nearly every position covered fairly well for the Derby?
We haven’t really found ourselves in such a position regarding the strength of the squad all season, now its time for that far greater quality within our squad to start shining again, and no better place for it to shine brightest is at that shithole on Sunday?
Already know that we have to get the performance right to take the cheating officials out of the potential equation by being far more clinical in front of goal which has let ourselves down on to many occasions to date this season imo?
We prepare correctly and get the big decisions right, and preform to our capabilities, then the wet suits will be required yet again for us celts from the floods of Hun tears expected Sunday afternoon
