An interesting afternoon from the  armchair football supporters this afternoon with Ross County winning 3-2 against theRangers in Dingwall which means that Celtic remain FOUR points ahead of Philippe Clement’s side who benefited from an own goal and an Andrew Dallas VAR awarded penalty to Rangers and still lost!

And following that there’s two massive games that could shape the closing stages of the title run in in the SWPL and it really could be a brilliant day for Celtic Football Club.

Elena Sadiku is looking to make history by delivering the title for the first time ever in Celtic FC Women history. And today something must give in the title race.

The action gets underway in the 3pm kick-off from Broadwood Stadium in Cumbernauld where theRangers Women take on current Champions Glasgow City. As things stand theRangers Women currently have a one point advantage over Celtic and a four point lead over Glasgow City.

    Elena Sadiku’s exciting Celtic side

Both sides have lost to Elena Sadiku’s exciting Celtic side in the first two post split matches, so the momentum is certainly with our Ghirls. City will be absolutely desperate to take the three points this afternoon to halt their slide out of the three horse title race.

A City win, or even a share of the spoils will suit Celtic who will know the score from the other game when they kick-off at 5.15pm. Celtic FC Women are back at Petershill Park to take on Partick Thistle and will be looking at the three points more than anything else, but there’s also a chance to extend the goal difference advantage.

Partick Thistle v Celtic FC Women is live on BBC Alba (kick-off 5.15pm).

Celtic FC Women are then in action at Airdrie against Hibs and the Celtic support can do our bit -as Celtic. if things go well this afternoon, will be looking for a fourth consecutive post-split win.

Speaking to Celtic TV, Elena Sadiku was clearly looking forward to getting back into action this afternoon. “There is nothing better than playing games because the training that we do always leads up to the games that we play. So it’s just really nice to get back to playing games again this weekend,” the Swedish coach said.

Some people saying that we have lost momentum

“It just shows that there has been some people saying that we have lost momentum because of the breaks that we are having between games. But it just shows that what we put in training and what the focus is every week is that we want to keep going, getting better and keep pushing.

“That is something that we are looking forward to doing now on Sunday, and going back to Petershill as well. We were there just a few weeks ago, so we want to put a good performance in there again,” Elena said.

The Celtic manager is fully focused on the challenge of facing Partick Thistle today, although the tantalising prospect of playing at Celtic Park this Sunday against Hearts. “I think for us as a team we put in our focus into the next game,” she said. “That’s the only thing we can control, we can’t control what is coming after.

“Even though our focus is on Partick Thistle, we know what is coming up. For me personally, where we are working towards, it is no secret that we want to write history. We want to make sure that we win all the games that we have. That is our ambition and it’s what we really, really want.

‘We want the fans to be behind us and to support us’

“To make that happen, we want the fans to be behind us and to support us. I know that the girls feel the same, we want to write history together with the fans. So that is why we need them for every game. When we play at Celtic Park, we should show that we are Celtic with the best fans.”

“We are working towards writing history, and everybody knows that. Celtic hasn’t won the league yet, and that is something that we go in for training every day, and I can sit here and say confidently, that the girls have been doing amazing.

“They also know that is what we are working towards. To be able to share that with all our amazing fans, there is nothing else that we want to do. Just as much as we deserve to win if we win all the games, it’s going to be something that we share with our fans because without them, we are nothing.

“That is something that means everything for us. I know that everybody knows that when it comes to Celtic,” Elena Sadiku said. Here’s Amy Gallacher, a front runner for the Celtic FC Women player of the season, taking about this afternoon’s match.
