Adam Idah came off the bench for Celtic at Ibrox on Sunday afternoon and managed to make an immediate impact on his Glasgow Derby debut. The Irishman has done really well since joining the ranks of the Scottish Premiership Champions in January this year. He has been so effective in some of his general play. Not only this, but he’s managed to do the crucial job in putting the ball in the net as well as assisting his teammates.
That 3-3 draw ensured that things remain the same as they were before things kicked-off. That means that should the Hoops win all six remaining games on their calendar – including the reverse of this fixture at home in a few week’s time – it will see us retain our League Crown this campaign.
The guts and the guile
It hasn’t all been plain sailing this year on Brendan Rodgers’ return to the club, but that most recent result shows that this Celtic team has got the guts and the guile to win this league again.
Our loanee from Norwich City was delighted with the impact he had on the game and the chance to sample that most revered of derby matches the world over. After the game he caught up with Celtic TV to give his thoughts on the match and he reckons it has shown everyone this group of players has what it takes to bring that Championship home yet again to Paradise.
Excellent from start to finish
After the match, Idah said of the drama that just unfolded: “I always try to do my best for the team, and the target is to score goals, so I’m happy with that. It’s frustrating not to get the three points but the boys dug in well today. We performed well and we still have to play them at home. I thought the boys did excellent from start to finish. To get the early goal was amazing.”
Monumental effort
Following that monumental effort, the Republic of Ireland international can’t wait to play his part in the season finale and the return leg against them at Celtic Park.
He added: “It’s my first time here and what the boys did with no fans here was fantastic. It was a good experience and I’m now looking forward to playing them at home. We take each game as it comes and we’ve got a game next Saturday which will be a good test for us, and when this next game comes I’m sure we’ll be ready for it.”
