Celtic loan move as Bernabei set to join Brazil side SC Internacional…
Brendan Rodgers is offloading Argentinian left-back Alexandro Bernabei with the £3.75m signing set to join the Brazilian Serie A outfit on their transfer deadline day, in what is initially a loan deal.
Bernabei paying the price
The Celtic manager dropped Bernabei from his squad after his dreadful defending cost Celtic two points against Kilmarnock at Celtic Park, and it now looks like the player’s time at Celtic is coming to a close. Signed by Ange Postecolgou, Bernabei has never gained the trust of Brendan Rodgers in that left-back role and the club tried hard to bring in a replacement left back to compete with Greg Taylor in the January transfer window.
That will now be a priority alongside the goalkeeping position for Rodgers this summer, as Celtic look to move Bernabei on.
The Brazilian transfer window closes tomorrow so the move will have to be completed imminently.
Rodgers gets tough
Rodgers has been using Anthony Ralston at left back, coming from the bench, with Bernabei not even included in the match-day squads since the 1-1 draw with Kilmarnock.
Hopefully this deal goes through and even better if there’s an obligation to buy clause, which Celtic will surely be pushing for?
