Neil Lennon’s positive update on Calmac’s injury

Neil Lennon has added some insight to the Callum McGregor injury that kept him out of the Scottish Premiership match on Sunday against Hearts at Tynecastle.

The Celtic captain was replaced at half time last Wednesday night in the match against Dundee and Brendan Rodgers subsequently revealed a calf strain problem was responsible.

Fears that McGregor could be missing for upcoming vital league matches have been eased by Neil Lennon who revealed via The Herald that the Celtic captain told him that he’s likely to be back after the international break.

Celtic are in action this weekend against Livingston in the Scottish Cup before domestic football takes a back seat for a week. That gives Calmac a fortnight’s rest and that should allow him to return refreshed and fully fit for the title fun-in.“Callum McGregor was a huge miss. He was massive on Sunday.

People take him for granted

“Celtic missed his influence when he was there. People take him for granted. He’s so good, so experienced, so game-intelligent,” the former Celtic manager said.

“That was all missing from Celtic against Hearts. He needs to get back asap. They have got a couple of games coming up where you’d look and think they should be okay, then they’ve got the international break, and you’re hoping he’ll be fit after that.

“I was talking to him after Sunday’s game and he didn’t think he was going to be out for too long. Celtic needs him back ASAP. He’s a top player and every Celtic team would want a Callum McGregor in it, especially at this stage of the season.”

Brendan Rodgers confirmed on Sunday that if McGregor is out for Celtic he will not join up with the Scotland squad and that’s a decision every Celtic supporter will agree with.
