Motherwell win at Ibrox to give Celtic to go back to the top of the Scottish Premiership with a with against Hearts at Tynecastle on Sunday…
Motherwell impressed in the first half last weekend against Celtic at Fir park and deservedly took a 1-0 lead in at the break.
The Scottish Champions turned things around superbly in the second half with two goals from Adam Idah and another from Luis Palma. That kept Celtic’s 2024 unbeaten run intact but it possibly should have been regarded by Philippe Clement and his league leaders ahead of the visit from Motherwell.
The most used phrase in Scottish Football
And just like last weekend Motherwell were impressive, led at the interval then didn’t let the Penalty to Rangers moment ruin their day, they simply went up the park and scored the winner to give Motherwell their first victory at Ibrox in nine years to end theRangers’ 11-game winning run while handing Celtic a massive title boost.
Theo Bair netted his 11th goal of the season early in that match but that was cancelled out by the ultimately ‘disappointed’ James Tavernier. it was theRangers captain who took the penalty favour awarded on the hour mark to the latest Ibrox club. The theRangers and their supporters were shocked on 75 minutes when Dan Casey headed the eighth-placed side’s winner.
Celtic can take full advantage with a win against Hearts
That swings the title race back in the direction of Champions Celtic, if Brendan Rodgers side can take full advantage tomorrow.
For now Philippe Clement’s side remain two points clear at the top of the table, but have played a game more. Champions Celtic are away to Hearts tomorrow knowing that a win will take them a point ahead at the top of the league looking down on theRangers.
If that’s not an incentive for Brendan Rodgers and his side what could be? Go there and get the job done Bhoys! Want some more photos from Ibrox? Oh go on then…
