“I feel better and, I could score some more goals,” Nicolas Kuhn

Nicolas Kuhn is beginning to look like a bargain buy for Brendan Rodgers. The Celtic manager sanctioned the £3m deal that brought the German winger to Celtic in the January transfer window. Things initially got off to a decent start for Kuhn at Celtic. He came off the bench on his debut at Pittodrie to score Celtic’s equaliser in the 1-1 draw against Aberdeen.

Looked out of sorts

But from then until last weekend’s Scottish Cup quarter final against Livingston at Celtic Park, he has looked out of sorts. The Celtic manager reckons that this was caused by weight loss after some particularly nasty experiences at the dentist ahead of his move to Glasgow.

The player apparently is now over those dental troubles. And he has got back to his optimum weight.

Man of the Match

Against both Livingston and St Johnstone in recent matches the former Rapid Vienna winger has been outstanding. On Saturday he got a brilliant assist for Kyogo’s opener with the roles reversed for Celtic’s second goal of the afternoon. That was Khun’s second Celtic goal on an afternoon when he also picked up the Man of the Match award, as voted for by Celtic supporters watching the game on Celtic TV.

After the game on Saturday Kuhn was joined by veteran winger James Forrest – who scored Celtic’s third goal of the afternoon – in the post-match chat with the club’s own TV channel.

It’s getting better and better

Kuhn said: “I think it’s getting better and better, I feel better and, I could score some more goals, but, at the end I’m happy.

“I think we had a couple of chances before to score, but of course, it’s important to get the first goal, and we’re happy with the three points.”

While Jamesy added his own thoughts on the match: “We played St Johnstone here at the start of the season and we drew 0-0, but today we created chances and we scored a few offside ‘goals’. We managed to get three, we had a good few other chances when we could have scored more as well.

“So it’s positive, but I think the only negative is that we conceded the goal, but I think there’s a lot of good positives to take from that and once we come back from the international break then we can go again.

The competition is healthy

“It’s good that we’ve managed to use the squad over the last few games and I think it’s important for the other boys to come back after the international break.

“The competition is healthy in the squad and that can only make us better for going forward.”

It’s clear that with Daizen Maeda also back in good form, Kuhn and Forrest can join Luis Palma in providing Celtic will plenty of options in the wide positions as we look to win a League and Scottish Cup double.
