More sensational Celtic photographs from the 1970s on Celtic Shorts this evening. A few days ago we took a trip down memory lane to look at some of the early season Celtic matches in the League and the newly formed Scottish Premier League.
More photos from Tynecastle
The games featured are all from the opening weeks of the 1975/76 season. Aberdeen at home and Hearts at Tynecastle in the League Cup section August 1975. Rangers at Ibrox (end August) and Dundee at home (early September) were the opening two League games in the SPL 19-team League era.
Here are a few more new images from that game at Tynecastle…

We have around 800 images to show you in total from the second batch of prints and slides given to us by former Celtic Stadium Director Tom Grant. The first lot appeared on our big sister site, The Celtic Star, during lockdown. Maybe we’ll show them again on here? Then you can watch the dramatic scenes as the old Celtic Park is demolished and the three new Celtic Park stands arise to give us our Paradise.
Celtic training session, August 1975
This evening we’ll take you along the road from Celtic Park in the summer of 1975 and let you watch Celtic train for one of these matches mentioned above. All the stars of Jock Stein’s side are there and we’ll have more photos tomorrow evening to share with you on Celtic Shorts.
