CCV “available for the weekend,” reveals Brendan Rodgers

Cameron Carter-Vickers looks set to return to the Celtic starting XI on Saturday for the Scottish Premiership match at Celtic Park against St Johnstone.

Brendan Rodgers revealed the good news on his exclusive interview with Celtic TV.  Asked about the injury situation with CCV and Luis Palma the manager confirmed that the Honduran winger will be out until after the international break.  But it’s better news on Carter-Vickers who is set to return this weekend.

I think he should be fine

“We will have a look at Cam, I think he should be fine. I spoke to Cam at length (on Tuesday), he just feels everything is based from around his knee operation,” Rodgers said.

“And then also, when you have picked up a few injuries from that, maybe from what is a normal twinge, you get that sensation and think it’s linked to another injury. Thankfully, it doesn’t seem that.

Available for the weekend

“We’ve had the scan which has come through fine. He’s done some work with the medical team and hopefully he will rejoin the training squad on Thursday and Friday and be available for the weekend.”

Celtic always look stronger at the back with CCV in the team, we just have to look at the two soft goals conceded at the weekend against Livingston in the Scottish Cup.

Only be a good thing

With Reo Hatate now out training and looking like joining Callum McGregor and Luis Palma in returning after the international break, Celtic could be at our strongest squad-wise as we head into the closing stages of the season.

That can only be a good thing as we look forward to winning silverware.
