Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has heaped praise on Hearts striker Lawrence Shankland. The Scottish Champions travel to Tynecastle to face the Jambos on Sunday and is wary of the threat that the Scotland Internationalist poses against his side.

Speaking at the media conference on Friday, Rodgers heaped praise on Hearts’ talisman while saying that his team need to be mindful of the quality of the striker.

“Yeah, I really enjoy watching him because when i was here the first time he was someone on the radar. You could hear people speaking about him and anytime I have seen him in clips, you could see he was a goalscorer.

“Having come back and seen him in Premiership playing, he is a boy that looks super concentrated in the game.

“He has really good technique, uses his body well to protect the ball. He scores all types of goals, left foot, right foot, good in the air. So he is a very good player and one we have to manage well.”

After mentioning he was on the radar, Rodgers very quickly shut down the suggestion that he had looked to make a move.

Shankland was the subject of intense attention from the Hibs end during the Edinburgh Derby on Wednesday. After netting the equaliser from the spot, Shankland was on the receiving end of missiles from the Roseburn Stand including a bottle opener, an AirPod and a Kebab pie.
